- I don't believe you can. POP3 post office is suppose to be listening on port
- 110 only. (POP2 is on 109 but who still uses that?) If you have a post office
- that is listening elsewhere, ask it be changed to the standard port.

- It is possible that you have a very slow nameserver. Before the NNTP
- connection is established, Trumpet News Reader has to determine the IP number
- for the news host. It maybe doing that lookup ... and if the nameserver is
- loaded, you'll notice the delay.

-
- It's probably because PC-NFS 5.0 doesn't have/use DNS. Version 5.1
- (which I hear is due out this month) is supposed to support DNS.

-
- Nope. There are 3 major specs out today: NDIS, ODI, and CLARKSON
- GENERIC PACKET DRIVER. NDIS was made by Microsoft, ODI by Novell, and
- the packet driver by Clarkson University / FTP Software.
-
- DIS_PKT is a shim that can be loaded after an NDIS compliant
- driver to make it look like a packet driver.
-
- ODIPKT is a shim that can be loaded after an ODI compliant
- driver to make it look like a packet drvier.
-
- In other words, you couldn't load ODIPKT after and NDIS driver.
-
- If you're loading an NDIS driver, and need packet driver support,
- you would use DIS_PKTX.DOS, where X is the version of the driver.
-
- As far as versions go, I'm not sure. As far as ODIPKT goes, the newer
- the better. This is not necessarily the case with DIS_PKT, however. Many
- applications that use a packet driver use the FTP 1.09 spec. Even though
- the spec has increased in version #, 1.09 seems to be the most popular,
- and stable. For instance, I have many applications that will work with
- DIS_PKT9.DOS (1.0*9*), but DISPKT13.DOS (what was the latest at the time)
- does not work....
-
- Hope some of that helped
